Hao Shui,
born
in Tongliao of Inner Mongolia in 1926. After graduating
from the Biology Department of Northeast University(origin
of NENU)1949, he worked in the university.In the 1950s,
he studied in the USSR and got the biology associate doctor's
degree from the Biology Department of Leningrer University.
He worked as assistant, lecturer and vice-professor in
the Biology Department of NENU.He was promoted to be professor
in 1978 and supervisor of doctor and academician of Chinese
Academy of Sciences in 1983. He had been the vice-president
and president of NENU during 1980-1986.Also he had been
a member of Academic Degree Committee of State Council,
vice-chief of all high colleges biology teaching guiding
committee of the State Education Commission, vice-chairman
of China Cell Biology Institution, managing director of
China Botany Institution. He has still been the editorial
committeeman of "China Science", "Science
Bulletin", "Experiment Biology Journal",
"Botany Journal " and other state greatest academic
periodicals.
Academician Hao Shui has been teaching for 50 years
in NENU and has achieved great successes both in teaching
and scientific research.
In
the aspect of teaching, he has taught many subjects, such
as ,ordinary biology, radiate cytology and cell biology
etc.. He has edited 2 teaching books "Cell Biology
Course", "Mitosis and Meiosis" and reference
books which are national textbooks. He has made a great
contribution to the teaching of undergraduate cell biology
course. He has fostered over 20 masters and 30 doctors
and also supervised many post-dactoral research fellows.
His graduates come from throughout the country and many
of them are professors, leaders of academy and advisers
of doctor. All that he has done is a great contribution
in fostering advanced talents for our nation.Because of
the contribution in teaching and talent fostering, he
was award the first prize of normal university teacher
by Zeng Xianzi Education Fund Committee in 1993.
In the aspect of scientific research, in the 1960s,
his main researches were about the mechanisms of the damage
of ionization radiate to cshromosome and the influence
of ionozation radiate to the fission activated of plant
cell. He proves free radical can be effective to the damage
of chromosome radiate. Since 1970s his main research fields
are chromosome's structure and wheat chromosome project.
In the research of chromosome's structure, he advanced
the result of new important experiments to counter the
various of chromosome's structure models in the world,
and offered
the testimony of original situation research to counter
the authenticity of controversial chromosome's framework
.He had found that there is RNA in Chromosome's framework.
Beside this, he has proved that there are actin and combined
albumen in nucleus framework and chromosome's framework,
which had laid a foundation for approaching the molecular
mechanism of chromosome's contracting movement. In the
research of wheat chromosome project, his colleagues had
cultivated a new strains of high quality wheat "icewheat
33" that is spreaded in Jilin Province and other
provinces. A hundred of theses had been published in the
important academic periodical at home and abroad. He had
been awarded the first prize of science technology progress
of state education commission once, the second prize twice,
the third prize of state natural science once and in Oct,
2001 the science technology progress prize of HelingHeli
Fund.
Professor Hao Shui not only makes great successes
in his own job, but also concerns about the development
of our country and people's life and participates in public
welfare activeties as a member of Communist Party .He
and his wife, Professor He Mengyuan, have donated money
to the poverty-stricken students of NENU, to the dropout
of "Hope Project" and victims of natural calamity.
In 2001, he contributed the money award of the science
and technology progress prize of Heliang Heli Fund, 200,000
RMB to the rural teachers encouraged fund of Jilin that
is his propose. |
